Younger generations may not appreciate what Hank Aaron and that moment 47 years ago meant - a massive cultural statement made against much resistance (death threats, etc.) but with the whole of America watching. I can never forget. April 8, 1974. Monday Night Baseball. My mom, my aunt, my mom's boyfriend, 9-yr-old me, eyes glued to the living room TV. Will he do it tonight? Crack!! My mom's boyfriend, huge sports dude (like me), leaps from where he'd been reclined on the floor: "He did it! He did it! He did it!" Great memory. Momumental moment. RIP
