I’ve had the privilege of knowing @tasiasword since 2007 when she completely embodied the role of Celie in the Broadway version of @thecolorpurple. What could top that? Well, this year, I got my answer. To watch Fantasia re-embody, reimagine, reinvent Celie was to actually witness triumph in action. Celie is a woman who overcomes, who forgives, who loves. And despite all the odds against her, rebounds to claim victory. That’s Fantasia. She “fell down, but she’s up!” I’m proud to see her getting her well deserved flowers: Healed. Whole. Triumphant. Thank you @variety for naming her one of your #PowerofWomen. The Color Purple is in theaters this Christmas Day and you’re going to love this Celie💜
