An experimental design could lead to larger and more #efficient #windturbines. On the edge of California’s Mojave Desert, #GE engineers are testing out the ecoROTR, the dome pictured above. In a conventional wind turbine design, wind that hits the center of the turbine can’t be converted into #energy. But the ecoROTR deflects this wind to the blade tips, increasing the amount of energy the turbine can harvest. Look out for more photos on our feed in the coming days.
