Vibram takes great pride in helping to create world-class footwear, like these @Globe fire boots, that kept firefighter Scott Austin safe back on March 9, 2015. When a gas explosion call came into the Tewksbury, Massachusetts Fire Department Scott and his crew rushed to the scene. Shortly after arrival, they discovered a malfunctioning hydrant which rendered the truck ladder pipe inoperable. As a result, the crew worked the line by hand up the ladder to Scott to help him fight the blaze. Suddenly, the ladder jerked forward, pinning Scott's right foot, with the full force of the hydraulics, between the rungs. The pressure was so great it could have crushed or even severed his foot. Instead, Scott was released from the hospital later that night. Scott sent us the boot, attributing the thick outsole for helping keep his right foot intact.
