Sunset at the jetty. Strahan located on the West Coast of Tasmania, Australia was nothing more than a sleepy village until - in the late 1980's - it became the center for the Franklin River Blockade, a popular uprise of conservationists. Since then, it has taken advantage of its nearby wilderness, developing a respectable tourist industry.
