Thanks to a strong/enhanced Madden-Julian oscillation, we’ve seen a number of strong Typhoons develop in the western North Pacific Ocean. Areas such as Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines are poised to see a solid run of surf later this week and throughout next week. Therefore we have another dual #PurpleBlobOftheWeek going to Typhoon CHAN-HOM and Typhoon NANGKA. Both are expected to reach Category 4 or stronger over the next couple of days while tracking to the NW-WNW. Both storms are cranking away with 45-50kt+ winds and they are due to strengthen, possibly even hitting Super Typhoon status.
