"In 1969, my friend, the great music photographer Jim Marshall, and I embarked upon a national tour of music festivals to shoot pictures for a book called, 'Festival: A Book of American Music Celebrations.' We covered all the festivals, from rock to folk to blues to jazz to bluegrass and beyond. While shooting the Ann Arbor Blues Festival in early August, I heard about another nearby celebration called Mount Clemens Pop in Mount Clemens, Michigan, about 65 miles north of Ann Arbor. I don’t remember what prompted me to drive over to Mount Clemens, only that I arrived in the evening just as #Iggy and #theStooges went onstage. Since it was toward the end of a weekend of music, the Stooges performance itself was sparsely attended, but the lineup to that point had been impressive: Alice Cooper, Eric Burdon, John Lee Hooker, the MC5 and Muddy Waters, among others. #IggyPop on stage was remarkable; I was wide-eyed, had never seen anybody like him. There was no way I could not photograph him in action." As told to @Rolling Stone by photographer @baronwolman
