MONDAY MEMOIR // I met Jimmy Choo once. Although I didn't know it was him at the time. It was by the water cooler at the Renault Clio Service Centre outside of London. He started the conversation with 'you look like a lady in fashion'. At that time we were one month away from launching our boutique in Notting Hill in 2002, so I replied 'well yes, I'm about to start my own fashion venture'. Our strange exchange involved him warning me about the dangers of the fashion industry - to be honest it was a little ominous although intriguing, and he spoke with such gravitas it left me thinking this man must be someone important. But who?! I had a feeling and as soon as I got home and onto the internet (iphones weren't invented back then) I googled 'Jimmy Choo' and to my delight had confirmation it WAS him. Having met the man himself I couldn't wait to grab a copy of recently released 'In my Shoes' by @tamaramellon the founder of Jimmy Choo the brand. Actually I also met Tamara once too when we sat at the same table at a ridiculously extravagant party at Blenheim Palace with Tom Ford on the table next to us (but that's another memoir for another Monday night). Anyway - if you love inspiring women in business and fashion and a biography that reads like a Danielle Steel novel this book is for you!
