Who ever said Java isn’t for kids was wrong! The next generations of Java developers are here!

The #JavaOne4Kids program, designed by Oracle Academy, provides various Java workshops and training to kids before the kickoff of the #JavaOne Conference each year. Kids between the ages of 10 and 18 are taught programming, robotics, and engineering. The agenda is made fun with exciting topics such as Greenfoot, Alice, Minecraft Modding, #Java, Python, Scratch, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, NAO robot, Lego Mindstorms, and more.

The programs end goal is to teach kids about computer programming while being inspired and having fun. Since it’s founding, Java One 4 Kids has become a worldwide curriculum for Java user groups and organizations. To date, #Oracle has put on more than 80 workshops, with over 2,500 participants.

Tim Gonzales, a 14-year-old attendee from San Francisco, shares his experience: “It’s been really cool. I really liked it. The door to opportunity is just so open. I just need to find out my passion within technology.” For kids, like Tim, who plan on pursuing a career in technology, programs like our Java One 4 Kids are a huge foot in the door.
