The gilded bronze Winged Victory glistens on top of the Victoria Memorial, outside Buckingham Palace.

The central monument of the Queen Victoria Memorial was created between 1906 and 1924 by Sir Thomas Brock. The whole design was conceived by Sir Aston Webb, who designed the Victoria and Albert Museum's main building, Admiralty Arch in The Mall, and redesigned the principal facade of Buckingham Palace in 1913.
