Been dying to tell u more about these hand carved shoes from #Vietnam in Mai last post. The amount of work that goes into the (only) 2000 pairs made each year is unreal. The blocks of wood for the soles are harvested from local orchards, and left to dry for 12-14 days. After hand carved with traditional tools, they are sent to cobblers for the next days to affix the leather uppers to the soles, and finally returned to the carvers who wax out the wood grain and varnish the wedge in local oils. I'm walking in pieces of art and humbled to have snagged a pair. Custom making another design for Maiself cuz I'm greedy ? Wish I had these to wear in @steampunkdshow, right?
