On day 18 of our climb, we ran up against the line. @コンラッド・アンカー, @renan_ozturk and I sat on the knife edge ridge staring up at the summit only 300ft away. Climbing the difficult aid pitch and convoluted ridgeline above would most definitely mean we would be stuck out for the night at over 20,000ft without sleeping bags, food or shelter. We had put everything on the line and it wasn’t enough. It was a heartbreaking failure. Devastated and exhausted, we began the long, dangerous descent. It would take us two days of rappelling to get off the mountain.
