Today in 1963: The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom takes place on the National Mall. By the end of the day, an estimated 250,000 people participated in the march. They carried signs, sang civil rights anthems, waded in the Reflecting Pool, and listened to the speeches. In this photo, people board buses in Wisconsin to head to Washington, D.C., to be part of the march.
That means today is the 52nd anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. What's your favorite part of the speech? ?? #AmericanHistory #TodayInHistory #IHaveADream
