Haha, so this is where the problems start to occur. I've been posting a lot of beautiful scenery but the reality of touring Vietnam is that a good chunk of your time will be spent visiting mechanics to help with repairs—or in this case, a random dude who happened to be a construction worker. I luckily found him to reattach my luggage rack as we were stopping thru a village to get some other help. He was working on a roof nearby so I made some funny welding hand signals and he hopped down to help immediately. I bought him some cigarettes and gave him 20,000d for the repair, which is basically a little over $1USD. Sometimes the roads are completely unpredictable and a pothole will sneak up on you. And since I'm carrying 25kg of current life belongings, along with my own weight, my bike has suffered a bit more strain than I think is normal. I've had the back rack snap three times on me now. ? I want to post a lot of this in-between stuff because I think instagram tends to be too fluffy and fake sometimes. This is the real shit, and it usually ends up being pretty funny in itself. Luckily, everyone knows these bikes inside and out so getting help is always available. #vietnam #contrateur
