Large hats like this one from the Joseon Dynasty (which measures two feet across) were quite common among the Korean nobility 200 years ago. Around 1863, the ruler of Korea passed a law banning large hats in favor of smaller, less ostentatious versions. Very few of these pre‐reform hats have survived, but ours has remained in excellent condition, thanks to its beautiful hat case. #bkmconservation More at bit.ly/bkmconservation
