Troye Sivan (@トロアイ・シヴァン) knew his song “DKLA” was missing an extra boost.
"I was listening to it and was like, ‘It needs a rapper, it needs a female rapper – and it needs Tkay Maidza,’” recalls the 20-year-old Australian singer. “I am just such a huge fan of hers.” Tkay (@tkaymaidza) agreed to do a guest verse and a couple of days later she sent Troye a demo. Still, it was almost a year before the two would meet in person, which they finally did, this month in Sydney. “There is something so personal about making music and we had done it long-distance, so to be able to meet and have this shared experience of this song on my EP, it’s just really, really cool,” he says. “It feels like we’ve known each other a lot longer than the hour we got to chill.” #todayimet
