Photograph by Michael Yamashita. The Great Wall of China: Though monumental in scale, the Great Wall, here at sunset at Jinshanling, did little to stop the Mongols from threatening China. I spent the better part of 2 years traveling it's entire length, over 12,000 miles, from the Bohai Sea to the sands of the Taklmakan Desert for National Geographic, it is the worlds largest man made construction project.
