This #Hobonichi entry is in celebration of being chosen as one of five winners in the #SummerOfSketching Giveaway hosted by @efdot in collaboration with @cwpencilenterprise and @baronfig. The incredible prizes include a lettering print and patch by @efdot that were birthed from a truly inspiring story, six delicious pencils from my hands-down favourite pencil shop @cwpencilenterprise and the Confidant Notebook by @baronfig which got voted as "The Best Bet All Purpose Notebook" by @nymag recently. Though the prizes were a drool-worthy-get-your-hustle-on incentive, this contest went much deeper for me. I would consider myself at the most entry level of amateur skills though my *passion* for drawing is beyond the scale. And one thing I've learned is that I'd much rather be passionate about something that I have a ton of room to grow in than to be a master of something that my heart is not in. That said, entering a giveaway in which I was in way over my head considering the other amazing artists' submissions, and somehow making the cut was extremely humbling as well as motivating. It felt like the biggest high five and ? from Life in that pivotal perfect timing kind of way. Thank you for inspiring a creative hands-on giveaway @efdot @cwpencilenterprise @baronfig and thank you for encouraging the gift of small beginnings.
