Thanks to a multi-year captive breeding program, this zoo has done a great job of helping to save this critically #endangered species. These beetles seek out small, dead animals like rodents and small birds, which they can sniff from two miles away! Then they bury the carcass completely in the soil to feed on it later. The cool thing about these insects is that, like mammals, they exhibit parental care for their offspring, feeding their babies from the buried carcass nearby.
