In case you somehow have not heard about it yet, powerful Category 4 #Hurricane #Joaquin is near the central Bahamas today and expected to track northward through this weekend, making it out pick for the #PurpleBlobOfTheWeek. Winds directly associated with Joaquin will offer reinforcing SE/S swell for the #Southeast, #MidAtlantic and #NewEngland while #Florida will see some ENE/E swell. However, the swell from Joaquin will mix with the already well established windswell/swell that’s been in place along the U.S. #EastCoast the past week. Models are now coming into better agreement on the track of the system and the #NHC forecast has nudged it slightly eastward, however, some uncertainty remains and any track changes could have an impact on wave heights and conditions.
