Dawn mist rises above the ancient city of Machu Picchu. Built in 1450 at the height of the Incan empire, it survived mostly intact since it was never found and plundered by the Spanish. Hiram Bingham “rediscovered” the site in 1911, although locals people were still living there and cultivating some of the terraces. Well worth seeing at some point in your life.
