Europeans weren’t the only 18th & 19th c. artists creating art in and about the Caribbean. Local artists like #CamillePissarro also depicted idyllic scenes and landscapes of their native homes. Pissarro, a native of Saint Thomas, would later befriend #FranciscoOller in 1858 in Paris, where he completed this realistic portrayal of his birthplace.
