#Repost @oraclesocial: Celine, a talented user experience designer @oraclesocial, has never told her story publicly before. Exactly one year ago, October 20th, 2014, doctors confirmed that she had stage 2a breast cancer. The lump she discovered was invasive ductal carcinoma. "My first reaction was like, no way. It's the last thing you want to hear. I was here, at @oracle, when I got the call. The doctor wanted me to come in to the office. Really? Cancer? It didn't hit me until I was driving home. I parked the car and started crying." Invasive ductal carcinomas are the most common type of invasive breast cancer, according to the @americancancersociety. Of the 230,840 women diagnosed in 2015 with breast cancer, nearly 80% will have IDC. Celine treated the cancer aggressively with chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Celine's support network of family, friends, and co-workers was extraordinary. "I was very touched by the outpouring of love. It really kept me going." Unlike many people in the social media era, Celine did not put her cancer diagnosis on Facebook. "I just wasn't comfortable with it at the time. It has been a lot to process." But things are looking good. Her last treatment is November 3rd. Her hair is growing back, thick, but salt and pepper, much to her dismay. "I was hoping it would grow back blonde!" She jokes. Now, she is moving into a different role- breast cancer survivor and fundraiser. "I don't want anybody to go through this, ever. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy." Which is why she is sharing her story. For every tweet or Instagram post that uses the hashtag #IDriveFor, @chevrolet will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society to finish the fight against #breastcancer. #IDriveFor Celine.
