There's perhaps no better place to begin in Iceland than Þingvellir National Park. It is historically, culturally and geologically significant to the island nation. Home to the country's largest natural lake (Þingvallavatn), a fissure between the earth's tectonic plates (Silfra) and the birthplace of the Icelandic Parliament and thereby the nation of Iceland (founded in 930).
