This oak room came from the Hôtel de Crillon, at 10, place de la Concorde, Paris, an early essay in the Neoclassical style built between 1755 and 1775 after designs by the architect Jacques-Ange Gabriel (1698–1782). Designed by the architect Pierre-Adrien Paris (1749–1819), the painted “boiserie” was probably carried out for Louis-Marie-Augustin, duc d’Aumont between 1777 and 1780 by an unknown artist. #metmuseum
