SENIOR SUNDAY! Remember Sampson from last Sunday?! @susiesseniordogs updated us that he found his forever home! Just in time for next week's holiday!
Adam wrote, "It's a Thanksgiving Miracle! It was four hours of driving over the mountains and through the fields, to Sampson's shelter we went! As soon as my neighbor, Katie and I met Sammy, it was instant love! We brought resident neighbor dog, Lola, to make sure everyone was comfortable (they will be sharing a yard) and she and Sammy hit it off right away. He seemed to think she was especially beautiful, if you know what I mean! The shelter staff/volunteers were all so incredible and kind, and we got to meet his foster mom and learn a little more about Sammy and his routine. Sammy 'claimed' Katie and then me by sitting on each of our feet, so then all that was left was the paperwork! It took some extra coaxing and help, in the rain no less, to get Sammy comfortable in the car, but we managed and we made the drive home with no issues. Sammy has been settling in very well and is the most calm, sweet, patient doggie. We think he may be a Karelian Bear Dog. In any case, he really is just a VERY BIG teddy bear. He takes food so gently from your hand and is very respectful of the resident neighbor cat, Panya. He does seem to have some arthritis in his back legs and he may need a tooth extracted, but otherwise he appears very healthy. Some people may be hesitant to adopt such a large dog who was found as a stray (I definitely was a little nervous, I admit) but Sammy is the perfect example of a 'gentle giant' who just wants to be near his human and animal friends. I am so excited to give Sammy the love and comfort he deserves for the rest of his life, and I know he will give so much to me in return."
