At the most important climate conference ever, the #COP21, more than 100 nations, including the two negotiating groups representing the world’s most vulnerable people -- the alliance of small island states and the least developed countries -- say we need to cap warming at 1.5 degrees. They have been using the slogan "1.5 to stay alive" and "2 degrees is suicide." The world’s biggest emitting nations, however, including the United States, European Union, India, and China, argue that the 2 degree target is adequate. Considering the difference between 1.5 and 2 degrees is the difference between some of these countries disappearing underneath the waves forever, it's a contentious issue.
