Rescued turtles and tortoises spend time rehabilitating in Lorri Cramer’s #UpperWestSide apartment before being released back to the wild or adopted. A former art teacher who now cares for #turtles full time, Lorri become the rehabber on speed dial for rescuers who discover turtles being shipped to the U.S. from overseas for sale on the black market. Some are destined to become pets, others food or ingredients in Chinese medicine. Right now, Lorri has about 45 turtles in her apartment, but she has handled shipments of hundreds at a time. “I never expected this to happen,” she said, of becoming the turtle lady. “It’s still a big surprise sometimes.” @bengiville filmed a few of Lorri’s roommates in action while on #nytassignment in New York. #?
