I love this guy so much. My solid ground. Today I brought him to an emergency clinic because I found a big gash behind his ear. I woke up at 4am in my van and he was awake and acting funny. I pet him for an hour before finding the wound, and immediately drove 4 hours through a snowstorm to the nearest clinic. It took another 4 hours before I heard from the clinic and I was on edge, Momo is fine and recovering, it was minor.
My mind escaped me for a few minutes as I was waiting to hear from the clinic, however, and I unreasonably imagined the worst case scenario. Certainly everything was fine, but the mind wanders, especially without my grounding Momo to remind me to breathe. I thought of a lot of the folks I’ve lost, and the ones those around me have lost, both this year and last. Not only those lost to death but also to choices that lead two people in different directions. The losses and near-losses this year have been tremendous. My heart goes to you, who have experienced what can be mildly referred to as a form of detachment. You are strong and amazing and change will make you stronger if you let it. ❤️
