Looking forward to the New Year. It's a tradition in the south that New Year's-Day-fare includes a hearty helping of black-eyed peas served with crisply-fried hog jowl on the side for good luck and prosperity. Since hogs can't turn their heads to look backward, it is said they are a symbol of progress since they are always looking ahead. So, with that being said and the New Year here, the Colonel is looking ahead, too.
