Young Haitian woman waits for musical concert to begin in the small town of Croix des Bouquets, just north of Pt-au-Prince, Haiti during the last week of 2015. Photo by @fotokonbit student Philomene Joseph, 20. FOTOKONBIT enjoyed a wonderful year with the publication of student work in the December 2015 issue of National Geographic Magazine @natgeo in a story on Haiti entitled 'Haiti On Its Own Terms.' Written by Alexandra Fuller, the story is a right-on tale of this complicated singular beautiful nation. The accompanying photographs by @fotokonbit students show a new generation filled with hope and a new sense of their country and who they are. One of the main aims of Fotokonbit is to build confidence and create a platform where young Haitians can express their notion of their place in the world. We are so proud of these young people and we are grateful to National Geographic Magazine for realizing the merit of their work. We are especially grateful to Director of Photography Sarah Leen who first had the idea to tell the story of Haiti through the eyes of @fotokonbit students, and to picture editor Pam Chen for overseeing the story and editing the photos. Bravo to the organizers of this Haitian-based non-profit including: @tatianamoraliautaud @mariearago @noelletheard @rdxdupoux @fredodupoux. Finally we thank those people who follow this organization and support it. Please follow us on Instagram or Facebook or go to our website at www.fotokonbit.org to see many galleries of the photographic work of young Haitians. @fotokonbit @roseleen @chenpamela #haiti #ayiti #croixdesbouquets #younghaitians #dailylife #proudnation #newgeneration #ngm #natgeo #fotokonbit #alexandrafuller
