Iran U23 (#TeamOmid) head coach Mohammad Khakpour has announced his 23 man roster for the upcoming U23 Asian Cup. The top 3 teams of this tournament will qualify for the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio. The games begin on January 12th with #Iran playing the opening match vs Syria.
After negotiating with club officials from AZ Alkmar and FC Rostov, Khakpour was unable to convince them to allow Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Sardar Azmoun to participate in the tournament. Since the tournament does not take place on official FIFA days the clubs are not obligated to send their players to the tournament.
