#OnThisDay in 2011 Nat Lofthouse died aged 85 . The prolific centre forward played for Bolton Wanderers for his whole career. He scored 255 goals in 452 league appearances, making him the seventh highest goalscorer in the history of the top flight. His international record also speaks for itself. After scoring both of England’s goals on his debut in a 2-2 draw against Yugoslavia in 1950, Lofthouse went on to record an astonishing 30 goals in 33 games over the next eight years.
