All the superb December submissions for @UNOOSA and @NASA #WhySpaceMatters photo competition made it tough to choose a winner. Look for @UNOOSA to feature other notable entries in the upcoming weeks.

@astro_giulia says “Space matters because it has the power to unite people, whoever they are and whatever their origins are. Just like it happened at the ESO Astronomy Camp, where 55 guys from 22 different states were united by passion for space, discovery and knowledge. Space matters because it is a meeting point among different parts of the world that work together to make something great.”

I could not agree more, working together with such a diverse crew on the ISS, which represents one of the most complex cooperative scientific and engineering project in history, owing its success to the remarkable international collaboration of over 80 countries.
