Photograph by @brianfinke. At the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) Transfer Station, a truck disposes rejected produce from crop packing facilities. This SVSWA facility receives the most food waste over the other transfer stations in Salinas county and has seen a steady increase in food waste since the popularization of bagged produce twenty years ago. Featured in the National Geographic “Waste Not Want Not” story out February 15th.
