I'm standing in movie history: it's roughly here that Timmy Lupus caught the ball in #thebadnewsbears - the 40 year old cinema classic by #Fletch director #michaelritchie. I'm turned around to show you the infield, where #amandawurlitzer and #coachbuttermaker took on the 1976 Denny's Yankees of the North Valley League. The flick was shot at #masonpark in #chatsworth California - about 20 minutes from my house. Yesterday, I took my wife Jen to see the field of dreams where #engelberg got chocolate on the ball and #tannerboyle tripped the other team as they rounded the bases. Jen was like "Why does this matter to you?" I think it's because this movie was the first honest treatment of kids that I'd ever seen while I was still a kid. I mean (SPOILERS!!!) The Bears lose in the end. Do you know how rare that was, for a movie hero to not win? The Bears lost even before #Rocky ever lost (by about 7 months). But Rocky won #academyawards. If they gave out retroactive #oscars then The Bad News Bears deserves the gold for standing the test of time: it's just as effective a piece of storytelling today as it was four decades ago. I know lots of people still visit #quickstop because #Clerks means something to them.
