Tsukiji fish market, world's biggest - Back in the 90's, the main feature was the tuna section where you could photograph 100's of meters of glistening tuna neatly aligned in rows awaiting each day's predawn auction. You could wander the rows choosing the best angles and light to capture the buyers inspecting thousands of fat blue fin without interference. I was shocked going back on a recent trip to Tokyo to find myself waiting in line behind rope barriers to get a glimpse of a few rows of mostly yellow fin tuna of medium size. By this time next year, Tsukiji will not even exist in these premises. Scheduled to move south to new modern facilities, this 80 year old Tokyo icon will be replaced by a highway connecting downtown Tokyo to the 2020 Olympic venues. #Tsukiji #tokyo #japan #bluefin #tuna #sushi #sashimi @thephotosociety @natgeocreative @ナショナルジオグラフィック
