Real talk for new times. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. It runs in my family, but as a relatively healthy person, I was (naively) surprised by all of this. After weeks of feeling ill and losing weight without any explanation, I went to the doctor, was tested for everything under the sun and discovered my Type 2 and a thyroid condition we're still figuring out. After a tough few weeks, and thanks to @turshen , I'm now seeing the silver lining that this difficult moment will lead to a new era of health and wellness for me. Our diet is now as clean as can be, I work out almost every day and my off time is now spent prepping healthy meals with my wife. I'm going to start a healthy cooking series on DS soon, but in the meantime if any other Type 2-ers out there have any favorite low sugar and low carb meal ideas, I would love to know! I'm embracing this second chance at health and know I'm lucky to be able to have a condition I can live with. Here's to good health for all of us in 2016. #type2diabetes (I'm seeing a naturopath and endocrinologist soon and right now I'm taking insulin shots and Metformin- hoping the shots might not be forever)
