Butter's story: Butters was attacked by an German shepherd at a local park where he almost lost his life. German Shepherd's nature is very protective and while the German Shepard was playing with his owner, Butters got too close and was attacked. The German Shepherd bit Butters so hard it literally popped one of his eye out. My brother who was there at the time immediately took Butters to an emergency pet hospital. My whole family arrived at the hospital and hopelessly waited for Butters for 6 hours as they operated on him. The vet put his eye back inside his eye socket hoping no nerves were damaged and he would still be able to see. The vet stitched his eyelid shut to let his eye heal. The vet said even though we made every effort to save his eye, there is only a 25% chance he will be able to see out of that eye again. With her experience, these type of situations the dog's eye almost always have to be removed. Butters got over 20 stitches that day. He had a punctured wound on the top of his head and on his neck. The vet said if the German shepherd had bitten butters two inches lower, he would of died. After waiting at the emergency vet hospital for 6 hours, we finally got to take butters home. After a week or so, Butters stitches got lose and his eye got infected. We had to take him in for another emergency operation and restitch his eye. After countless of vet visits and two surgeries later, it was clear that Butters did not only lose his eye sight but his eye will have to be removed because he wasn't able to close his eye on his own to lubricate it. With the devastation of seeing how much pain my baby was in, I had to do what was best for him, and that was removing his eye. Right now all I want is to share Butter's story and raise awareness to all dog owners to be very careful when you take your baby to the park. You never know how another dog would act. Butter already lost an eye and if I didn't do everything In my power to spread awareness, the lost of his eye would of have no meaning. Let Butter's lost be an warning to all dog owners to be more cautious.{{story continues in first comment}} #buttersstory
