Photograph by @paulnicklen taken while on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in the Falkland Islands // Some still refer to the Falklands as Las Malvinas but as a conservation/wildlife photographer, I refer to them as “pure magic”. It is encouraging to discover that there is a place in the world where there is a plethora of life both above and below the waves. Here, a fur seal comes in for close inspection in the lush macrocystis kelp forests. The seals were fun but did you know that kelp in ideal conditions can grow up to two feet a day. This kelp in turn provides the shelter and refuge for an entire benthic community on the ocean floor. Please follow me to see more from this underwater dreamland.
