The man in the grey shirt is my friend David, @ocittid. I've known David for a long time, through the incredible life saving work of @invisiblechildren, and now his work with Pathways To Peace Uganda. Given the smiles in this photo, the shining happiness, I doubt you'd think David is an escapee of violent conflict. I bet you wouldn't guess the young men in this photo with him are also escapees of the #LRA. A lot of people assume that the conflict is over because we don't see Joseph Kony's face all over the place any more. It's not. His decline in coverage by popular media is just a symptom of our constantly shifting attention. Of the ADD that seems to proliferate the news. Kony hasn't stopped abducting children. His numbers are shrinking, but we can't give up. Here, in David's words are his thoughts about this, and these three boys. There are still many horrific details he won't speak of. But he is confronting them head on. He has dedicated his life to protecting kids like them, and to helping them find a pathway back to peace. Back to home. Back to living. There is hope to be found in these boys. So so much ❤️

Looking back weeks ago when I was in Central African Republic (CAR) Obo, visiting and welcoming a friend who had escaped from #LRA, I met these three handsome young men. They have undergone the same experience I went through over 10years ago, especially the youngest of all (first on the right). He was abducted when he was about 9yrs old, walked for miles and miles, carried heavy loads and broke his leg twice before he made his way out... I don't want to explain how that happened. It reminded me of how much still needs to be done to end the LRA conflict. The suffering is real and still going on. Let's keep pushing hard guys, we are about to get there but it needs our fullest energy. We can do this.
