Illustrator @stephen.doherty creates beautiful studies of flowers and figures, working across drawing, watercolour and print. "For me everything starts with drawing," he tells AnOther. "I draw for different reasons but usually I draw what excites or moves me and hope that I'm installing the same feeling in the person looking at my work. I'm massively drawn to flowers – I love that they're in a permanent state of movement, rising up and then bursting out from the centre. My drawings are like taking a still of that movement." This week, @thehackneyshop will be hosting a new series of Doherty's work – opening tomorrow, Thursday 17th March, and running until Sunday 20th.
