As an art director for Sub Pop Records, @sashabarr is responsible for merch, digital illustrations — basically anything having to do with the visual look and feel of the label. Of course, his main priority is album covers. Since joining Sub Pop back in 2007, he has worked on everything from the Flight of the Conchords’ Seals and Croft-inspired artwork for “I Told You I Was Freaky,” to the Grammy-nominated pop-up diorama for Father John Misty’s “I Love You, Honeybear.” “It’s not about what I like,” Sasha tells @music (though he loves “Honeybear”). “It’s about trying to make the band happy. Each album is their baby and it’s my job to make that into a physical reality.”
