Modern Man's #weathervane - The last time I drove this far down #I40 was a decade ago when we moved from OKC to LA. A good deal has changed since then, especially in how technology has shaped how we travel. Waze means I don't have to open up a road atlas on the hood of the car. iTunes ensures we weren't without music in the most desolate radio-silent stretches of the Mojave. And an iPad allows my kids to watch movies when they're bored; which would mean they'd watch it nonstop if left to their own devices (zing!). So I find it interesting the way I'm inclined to intentionally limit technology's grasp on us this trip. We ended up playing "I Spy With My Little Eye" not because it's a fun game (it isn't), but because it was a last resort. And the silliness and peals of laughter that accompanied it were the result of that communal, simple, and social activity. Anyhow, this #satelitedish pointing into the wind made me think of it; of how, when we get our weather from a TV channel, we'll never be pleasantly surprised by a rain storm. #RoadDobs
