A partial list of the headwear on display at the #Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival in Manhattan yesterday included rabbit ears, silk flower arrangements, Easter eggs bobbing like antennae and Easter baskets so securely fixed to their owners’ heads that they could withstand high winds. Making hats to wear on Fifth Avenue on #EasterSunday is a New York City tradition dating to the 1870s. “It is ordained somewhere,” @ニューヨーク・タイムズ noted in 1887, that “the bonnets shall not be resurrections, but creations never before seen.” The @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer @michelleagins, who photographed this group wearing hydrangea hats, was one a number of photographers out to capture the spectacle on Fifth Avenue.
