#WHPexpressions asked community members to capture expression in all its forms — like this one by Australian artist Joel Stephen Birnie (@blixpoxandblunder).
“I’m obsessed with visual theater, predominantly silent forms of expression — from mime to silent films, Japanese Butoh, even the circus,” says Joel, who dressed as a character inspired by a Russian cabaret artist for this expressive self-portrait. “I’m happy to have achieved the result I wanted using myself as the canvas.”
