In 2010 Prada launched the 'Made in' project, aimed at reviving some local manufacturing techniques by identifying, in various countries in the world, niches of absolute excellence rooted in traditional craftsmanship.

'Prada Made in Scotland' collection of tartan kilts was produced with wool from UK workshops that utilize centuries-old manufacturing and weaving techniques, utilizing patterns inspired by 'Wilson’s Key Pattern Book (1819)' and later official catalogues of traditional tartans. Since the 4th century, Scottish tartan has been worn to signify national, regional and clan identity. In the early 18th century Thomas Rawlinson transformed the famous tartan kilt into the elegant and traditional wrap skirt that is worn today.
