右バックポケット内側に縫い付けられた赤いタグ。言わずと知れたレッドタブにもまた、面白い誕生秘話がある。きっかけは1930年代にLEVI’S®のマーケティング・マネージャーを務めた、ロデオ好きのある一人の女性。ロデオ会場でLEVI’S®の着用者がどれほどいるか調査していたところ、参加者たちに目をやりながらこう思った。「遠目では誰が我が社のパンツを履いているか分からない。離れたところからでも分かる目印が必要よ」。そうして生まれたレッドタブは1938年に商標登録され、公式にLEVI’S®のシンボルとなった。ちなみに、赤い布を付けること自体、そして取り付け位置までもが商標登録されている。#いいね不要
Red tab was actually made from an employee’s idea. One day, the marketing manager back then who had loved rodeo realized in the stadium that she could never identify who were wearing Levi’s® jeans without any icons. Then she thought it would be very iconic if she could put a red tab on the back pocket so that anyone would be able to see it is Levi’s. Trademarked in 1938. #weare501
