Does having a messy house make you a bad mom? God! If I had a nickel... No! If I had a penny for every time I feel MOM GUILT, it would cover my mortgage. Until I read @ashlen_at_the_kidsperts' blog on @WhatTheFlicka I didn't even realize I feel guilt and more aptly SHAME for the state of my house. Even my kids get embarrassed - "Mom, can we clean up before Lexie comes over?" I don't think the problem is whether we feel guilty over something "silly" but that we feel guilt at all. Although I am in a wrestling match with it daily, guilt has never added any value to my life. If I were God (who I referenced at the top) I would absolve all of us and demand that we put that energy that used to be busy with guilt to use on something that brings joy to us and those around us.
