スリランカの数あるお祭りの中で、最もカラフルで最も人気があるお祭り、ペラヘラ祭り。2016年の開催期間は、8月8日（月）～17日（水）です。お釈迦様の歯を入れた仏塔を乗せ、煌びやかに装飾された象を筆頭に、その他の装飾された象やダンサー、旗持ちなど大勢が群を成し、キャンディ市内を練り歩きます。
